And people thought I was crazy!

Group training started a little late for me today as parking seemed to be an issue. When I found out why we were asked to park in a different place, I didn't feel so crazy. Some people call me crazy for running in the cold weather, but not today. Nope, I'm officially not crazy. Today was the Polar Bear Plunge at Eagle Creek. There are people crazy enough to jump in the ice cold water! See, I'm pretty normal.

I started sending out letters this week and the web site is set up. www.active.com/donate/tntin/JHomans1. I'm committed to running the 26.2 miles, will you help me cross the finish line?

I think I'm going to squeeze in a nap before work. Enjoy your weekend! j

Tis the Season

Tis the season for fevers and illnesses and that's what I got yesterday. It was a rough night and I missed our second group training this morning. I'm partially bummed for missing training because it's a chance to see teammates. However, I believe the weather was below 20 degrees. THAT'S COLD! I know Alaska can be chilly, but I don't think it's going to be that cold in June.
The good news is, tonight I'm feeling better and I think the fever is gone. Maybe I can get in a walk/run tomorrow for what I missed today.

Currently I'm training to run 26.2 miles in honor of all those who battle with blood cancers or have lost the battle. Check out www.active.com/donate/tntin/JHomans1 for more information and how you can be part of my team without having to run the race!

New Title suggestions???

Wow! I've read through my previous postings and realized I've come pretty far.
First, the LONG overdue GREAT news! On Sunday, May 22, 2005, the Memphis in May triathlon included 250 Team In Training (TNT) participants from all over the country AND with your help, we raised over $875,000!!!!!!! WAHOO!!
Also, with your help, I was one of the top fundraisers for team Indiana, raising $5,840!

GO INDIANA (and some of northeast Illinois and The Netherlands)!

After a couple months of resting - excessive resting - I realized I needed to keep up the exercising. For me, exercising on my own was not as fun as working out or training with a group of people, so I signed up for another event and mentored a group of TNT participants who planned to run a marathon or a half marathon in Walt Disney World, FL or Phoenix, AZ. I joined the half marathon Walt Disney World team and ran through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot proudly wearing a purple jersey. Meeting so many people who have personal connections to the fight against blood cancers is truly a motivating factor to run many miles!

Yes, there are upcoming events on my list, but you'll just have to check back to find out what they are and how you can be part of the team! Right now, I have a title dilemma and I need your help! At first is was a triathlon to help find a cure, but now it's many events all to further blood cancer research and aid patients with costs. Any ideas?
